Rank algorithm update from google weeded out a lot of good or bad websites,   in the hope of furnishing it’s search users better results, according to their official blog, this change impacts 11.8% organic search results, in plain English, almost 12% of google search results are useless or of low quality. They planned and started the update about one year ago, maybe that’s why some of my ranks dropped out of first 10 pages, the good thing is that those keywords promoted by content rich links are not affected, and a few of them even gained a few positions, it’s almost a sure thing that plain link building loses all it’s attraction, at least in the eye of google.

Now what on earth is plain link building and how do people do it? a lot of marketing companies did and are doing the plain link building, they add your links to those linking websites without context, the content on those sites will never be updated, it’s safe to assume all of them are trash, we call these sites link spamming sites. Now google algorithm probably will weed out these sites, any links on them will be affected too. 

Examples will be great for explanation. In the very beginning, I didn’t know better, I started with this keyword, Tow Chains, at that time almost every body was doing plain linking campaign, lately I figured that every site in the campaign had way too many links, worst yet, those sites had no content at all. I would give credit where credit is due, this linking strategy worked, eventually the keyword could be found on first page, this was the case until google made the change. Here is another keyword, chain puller , we put the link in relevant context, almost no plain links, you can imagine how this keyword ranks. Now contextual links win the battle, then what? It all boils down to content, when you create unique and quality content, you will attract readers as well as search engines. You probably think there are already too many blogs out there, it’s not true, there will never be too many good blogs, for instance let’s examine this one, baby stroller , I build it as a hobby and kept adding good or mediocre content, I guess you believe this site won’t be doing too well, in reality this site is doing pretty well for more than a few search terms. Now you can see, quality blog marketing is much better than plain link building. If you can build a group of your own blogs, for instance Ratchet Binder, then you will have a powerful weapon in your SEO arsenal.

Remember content is king, you just need to create content, share the content with people, and put your keywords in the context you’re good to go, this strategy will prevail in short or long term. Persistence and patience are the keys to success, you shouldn’t expect things to improve overnight, it doesn’t matter you’re doing SEO or advertising your business, keep writing, publishing, sharing and creating, you will see the day of success.
